THE MORALOGY FOUNDATION, Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, contributes to people and the society through study of morality and social education

As part of its 100th-anniversary commemorative events, the Moralogy Foundation held the “The Unity of Morality and the Economy: International Symposium in Taiwan” on Saturday, September 27, at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan.（Co-hosted by the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation; supported by SI/Taichung Love Education, Soroptimist International of the Americas Taiwan Region, Tamkang University, the Japan Dao-Kei Association, and Reitaku University.）

Under the theme “Reflecting on ‘Benefit for All Three Parties Involved’ and Sustainable Management of Companies and Organizations,” this international symposium was attended by approximately 250 participants, including business executives and senior managers from Japan and Taiwan. It served as a forum for discussing, from an international perspective, the concepts of “The Unity of Morality and the Economy” and “Benefit for All Three Parties Involved”—which aim for harmony between ethics and economics and were proposed by the Foundation’s founder, Chikuro Hiroike（Doctor of Law）—as well as practical examples of their implementation.

At the opening of the symposium, Chairman Mikido Hiroike delivered the organizer’s address. He began by expressing his condolences and sympathies to the victims of Typhoon No. 18, which struck eastern Taiwan on September 23. He went on to express his hope that this symposium would help further deepen the bonds between Japan and Taiwan, and that through the principles of “The Unity of Morality and the Economy” and “Benefit for All Three Parties Involved,” businesses and organizations in both countries would continue to thrive and contribute to global prosperity.

This was followed by a keynote speech by Kazuya Kushimoto（Honorary Doctorate, Reitaku University）, Chairman of CERAMASTER INTERNATIONAL CORP., a trading company specializing in ceramics and other products. After serving as a representative of a Japanese company in Taipei, he established his own business there; the company will celebrate its 50th anniversary the year after next（2029）.

Afterward, a special video interview was screened featuring Honorary Chairman Chen Dingchuan（Honorary Doctorate, Tamkang University）, who leads Everlight Chemical, one of Taiwan’s leading chemical manufacturers, and has been a driving force in Taiwan’s chemical industry for many years.

Presentations by panelists included President Chen Wei-wang of Everlight Chemical Industrial Corporation, who has led the company for over 24 years and has been dedicated to promoting environmentally conscious management and industry-academia collaboration; President and CEO Koji Hase of HaseTora Spinning Co., Ltd., a long-established Japanese textile manufacturer with a history of over 130 years; and Ms. Zhong Demei, Executive Director of the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation, which has carried on the legacy of Mr. Chang Yung-fa, founder of the Evergreen Group and a leading figure in Taiwan’s business community, and has long promoted cultural, educational, and public welfare initiatives. During the discussion, there was a lively exchange of views on management approaches based on the principles of “The Unity of Morality and the Economy” and “Benefit for All Three Parties Involved,” as well as initiatives for building sustainable companies. Finally, Mr. Yasuhiro Ikuta, Chairman of the Nihon Dohkei kai a nationwide organization of business leaders dedicated to studying the principles and practices of “The Unity of Morality and the Economy” and “Benefit for All Three Parties Involved”—delivered the closing remarks, bringing the symposium to a close.

The event was also attended by numerous distinguished guests, including Mr. Kung Tsui-chang—the 79th-generation direct lineal descendant of Confucius and Sacrificial Official to Confucius—as well as many representatives from schools across Taiwan that have established sister-school partnerships with Hiroike Gakuen (Reitaku University, Reitaku Junior and Senior High School, and Reitaku Mizunami Junior and Senior High School), an affiliate of our Foundation.

Held to mark the 100th anniversary of our founding, this international symposium served as an opportunity to further deepen future Japan-Taiwan collaboration, while also marking the first step toward presenting a new vision for the realization of sustainable corporate and organizational management based on the principles of “The Unity of Morality and the Economy” and “Benefit for All Three Parties Involved.”
